Flute Sterling
Which flute brand is better, Artley or Armstrong?
Currently, I have an Armstrong open holed flute with an off set G mechanism, B foot and Sterling head-joint. I’ve been playing it for about four or five months and really love it, however I recently purchased an Artley flute and piccolo.
I don’t have much information on the flute, but I know that the piccolo is atleast silver plated, if not having a Sterling head. The flute is openholed, B footed with an in-line G, which I know would technically make it more in tune than the Armstrong.
Both flutes are in the same condition but the big question is which of the two brands is better? I know both top Germinhardt but of the two, I just want to know which one should be used for concert and recitals.

Which flute do you sound better on? Which flute is more comfortable to you? Most students when they upgrade, upgrade to a silver Head Joint. Whichever flute you are practicing your recital/concert pieces on should be the one you use for concert/recitals. Each flute has its own nuances and pitch/intonation issues. Not to mention switching between inline G and offset G.
If you are still undecided have your teacher listen to you play each flute and help you make a decision.
